SSEPAC has been diving into the numbers to better understand how Special Education students are performing within SPS. If you are concerned about your child’s academic performance, or if you are interested in understanding SPS benchmarks, please reach out to somervillesepac@gmail.com to become a member.


DIBELS (K-5) Screener: From Ms. Kathleen Seward, Coordinator of K-8 Humanities Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, ‘DIBELS is used in K-5 for all students and iReady is used 3-8 for all students. (both 3 times a year) Those are our only universal screeners. This meets DESE requirements per the Dyslexia legislation.’ Below is a chart provided by Ms. Seward detailing DIBELS scores for ALL of K-5 SPS students:
